Don’t Land in Hot Water
What powers the appliance? That depends largely on the services already present in your home, but any of the usual suspects—natural gas, liquid propane, oil, or electricity—can be the fuel source for this type of water heater. Inside the tank, a gauge reads the temperature of the water, and when it drops below a preset level, the unit kicks on to bring the water temperature back up.
Minimize Wait Time for Hot Water Waiting for hot water at a sink located far from a primary heating source can be frustrating. Only having access to cold water from a sink is just not useful, and plumbing a hot water line to every sink in a home or business requires time and money.
It works good with outside sunny temps in mid 80s on up, with storage tank temps ranging between and usually. What the above folks are saying is true, get a smaller tank and you will have hotter water from your solar and a longer heating season. I have good service with my solar system since may, but with smaller tank it would be better. Basically with solar at least my system you will get so much gain every time the water passes thru collector. I gain on average under 15 degrees on my system with each pass thru collector.
You might do better since your collector is copper, but flow rate is important.

In most recreational vehicles you have some type of freshwater system, gray water and black water systems and holding tanks. While the term fresh water goes without explanation, gray water represents fresh water that has gone down the drain in the sinks and showers and into a holding tank.
Plumbing is Easy With Push, Threaded and Compression Fittings Many people have avoided plumbing for the reason of having to “sweat” or solder copper fittings. Well let me introduce you to the push fitting. You simply push the fitting onto the pipe and “voila”, you’re done. You can even remove the fitting with a special, very inexpensive tool made by the manufacturer. You simply slide the tool onto the pipe, push it against the end of the fitting, wiggle and These fittings can even be turned or rotated once they’re installed so you don’t even have to be perfectly straight right away when say making sure the handle of a valve is in front.
Go ahead, put it on backwards Once in place, just spin in to where you want it and “voila” you’re a pro. These fittings are nearly as good as an invention as running water itself. You may have heard otherwise but I have used these all over my home and have yet to have a problem. I don’t suggest using them in areas that are inaccessible simply because the oldest one I have is 7 years and though it’s holding up fine, these haven’t been around long enough to say what they’ll do in
How do you hook up the water hose to a water heater?
I have gas heat in my current house now and am not familiar with how anything else works. This spells large oil bills to me, but again I don’t know much about oil heat. I’m in PA if this helps
Many late-model RVs include a by-pass valve kit that allows the plumbing system to bypass the hot water heater, reducing the amount of anti-freeze that will be needed Without a by-pass kit installed, an additional 6 10 gallons of anti-freeze will be required.
Atwood water heater parts can be ordered either as the genuine OEM or aftermarket parts, through many RV dealer stores, online and offline. Atwood also suggests not using aftermarket parts as they can lead to out of control heating. Atwood RV parts inside the heater are easy to use, replace, and they are safe. This is what reduces the time to service your RV water heater without entering the vehicle.
All the Atwood parts are protected inside the sealed combustion chamber, and behind the door, which has a durable and resistant paint, to keep the parts clean and sheltered from the harsh weather and terrain conditions, while still keeping its exterior attractive and matching your vehicle. Atwood RV parts including the high temperature limit switch, thermostat, TPR valve , provide a multiple protection to the water heater, so problems can be prevented successfully.
How To Install An Electric Water Heater
There are basically two ways to get the water into your RV… by connecting a hose to the city water inlet, or by filling your fresh water holding tank. Use a hose that is safe to use for drinking water. If you connect to the city water inlet, always use a pressure regulator. If you fill the fresh water holding tank, make sure the drain valve if there is one is closed.

Apparently it has the desuperheater already in it. I want to start using it to heat up the water in the home. I’ve seen a few diagrams and a few discussions as to how it should be hooked up. Some people have two tanks, others seem to have just one tank. Currently I have 1 80 gallon electric water heater. Anyways, I have a few questions. What are the downsides of using just one tank? What temperature does the water come out of the desuperheater at?
I’m thinking the main issue would be if my water heater is always keeping the water higher than the desuperheater gets the water up to then the desuperheater will be kind of useless. With two tanks, tank 1 has the desuperheater, tank 2 has power. Tank 2 gets the already warm water from tank 1. But tank 2 still has to keep the water warm. Is it basically just a savings from not having to heat up the water as much as it would if it had just come straight from the water main?
Now for hooking it up.

Edit Answer for another 2 minutes You have to put your self in the shoes of a business that is in business to turn a profit of some sort. All businesses have different overhead which in turn decides what their bottom line would be on their services. I personally would not go with an unlicensed professional for this type of install. I do agree that there are some companies that are way out of line for their installs but most of these companies are the really big companies that have very high overheads I would assume.
Tank type water heaters have changed over the last several years and with these safety changes come bigger prices. The price of steel thanks to China is skyrocketing and tank type water heaters are made of steel. Most wholesale plumbing supply companies cannot match what the big box stores are selling at retail to consumers. I happen to think from research that heaters such as Rheem, Bradford White and AOSmith who have been in business forever make a better product than what you can buy in the big box outlets.
You also have to take in consideration the location of the water heater that is being replaced.
How to Connect an LP Propane Tank to a Hot Water Heater
Like a vicious snake waiting to snag you with poison-tipped fangs, the RV sewer system can prove challenging, educational, – and deadly. First time RVers should expect the worse, and prepare for a lesss troublesome experience. So, you’re a first time RV owner and sure, you’ve heard horror stories about dealing with unrelenting sewer tank problems. Afterall, dealing with such a “dirty” subject doesn’t exactly fit the vision you had of spending grand vacations in the new buggy on the road across America, right?
With the RV Hot Water Heater you can convert your gas unit into an electric one and save the propane for your barbecue. It converts any 6-gallon RV LP gas water heater to volts of electricity on demand and has a stainless steel cartridge that heats the water .
You need to install a pressure regulator between the tank and hot water heater, ensure that the hot water heater is equipped for propane rather than natural gas, and maintain the correct safe distance between the tank and the hot water heater. The sizes of some fittings might vary with the needs of your water heater control box. Some gas appliances come with kits that include some of the fittings you’ll need. Improve safety and simplify the task by having the hardware store cut and thread your pipes.
The propane tank needs to be at least 10 feet from the water heater. Some municipalities might require a greater distance, so check local regulations in case you need more than 10 feet. The propane tank should not be under an awning or other shelter that could retain vented gas from the propane tank. Some municipalities might require a greater depth, so check local regulations.
Make sure that both the installed elbows face in the same direction when completely screwed on.
